Two years ago,
then-Congressman Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan’s 11th District got
caught up in a petition fraud scandal that threw him off the ballot and led him
to resign from Congress.
It also led to two of
his staffers being charged with “conspiracy to commit a legal act in an illegal
manner” – a felony. A team of lawyers at Fausone Bohn handled the matter successfully
from the trial court all the way to the Michigan Court of Appeals.
The trial judge agreed
that the Michigan Attorney General over charged in the case, and dismissed the
conspiracy charges. The decision was upheld by the Court of Appeals.
